Located below the Gamelan Bale, the wood panelled library and movie
theatre faces south and is underground on three sides, masking
entirely it's presence from the villa. Double glazed entry doors
complete a fully soundproofed cinema or disco environment with
neither audible nor visible intrusion on the villa or river valley
tranquility.
The room is 11 x 8 meters, widening to 9 meters in the
central area. Custom built elevated couch beds shown in the
picture can be demounted, allowing reconfiguration as a
meeting room or disco.
The projection screen for the 1080p projector is 128x72 inches, or
147 inches as normally expressed for TV screens. Sound equipment is
7 channel digital with full support for newer high definition sound
tracks such as DTS-MA and Dolby Tru Digital. Equipment is kept
state of the art and comprehensive.
Media is available from a 500 title selection of original BluRay and
DVD titles. The villa avoids copies widely available
in this part of the world and instead purchases originals from Amazon. Leaving
aside legality issues the knockoffs have low video and audio quality due to high
compression used by the copiers in order to force fit them onto
single layer budget DVD disks. Quite often the result looks pretty bad on a
decent LCD or Plasma TV set but projected on a large high definition
movie screen they are really gross.
A high end audiophile stereo system, also housed in the theater,
is based on Mission Audio speakers and Audio Research
amplifiers. Likewise our substantial audio library is available and
distributed digitally over the villa network.
Computer systems are networked and have broadband connection
to the internet. A good collection of English books is available
including a large section for children. There are also a number
of French, Korean and Japanese titles.
