Villa Bali Gita is proximate to Ubud, Asia's art capital, renowned for it's artists, art galleries, palaces, temples, restaurants, and expatriate celebrities. By day abustle with tourist buses, sightseers and shoppers, the village changes character as night falls. Once more the dreamy hamlet of soft lighting, light traffic and temple goers in their finest robes. Cozy street side eateries attend a laid back café set who linger long creating and absorbing an ambiance of leisurely conversation, music, tall stories and an era elsewhere long gone.
If this community can be said to have an urban sprawl, Bali Gita lies well beyond it. Tucked in riverside country of mystical serenity you overlook one of the island's most spectacular Ayung River Rapids vistas, a stunning waterfall gorge, emerald rice fields and lush jungle. Secluded in a landscape of vibrant foliage and rustic water gardens, personal staff attend your every need in a hideaway of unsurpassed luxury.
A small island, Bali is deceptively difficult to get around. Resorts cluster on a southern tip of white sand beaches putting scenic, cultural, sporting and adventure activities a lengthy drive away. Remote areas such as the crater lakes, northern beaches and diving centers are a daylong round journey. The island accordingly teems with tourist buses, fortunately all going in the same direction for much of the day on often narrow roads…. out from the resorts in the morning back in the evenings. Hence Ubud's nighttime tranquility.
Villa Bali Gitas' rural location on the Ayung River near Ubud is central to the island's attractions, even the most remote a comfortable drive. Rafting and other popular outdoor activity programs are close by while shopping, beaches, water sports and golf are a scenically beautiful 30 to 45 minute ride in the villa private bus.
To the south of the Puri Wulandari resort around 4 Km west of Ubud town the river enters a giant gorge and traverses a long horseshoe bend before straightening and heading past the Royal Pita Maha and thence to Kupu Kupu Barong and Amandari Resorts. Bali Gita sits on a bluff overlooking this gorge and the river rapids.
Nearby activities include the starting and finishing points of many of the rafting operations as well as valley trekking and ricefield cycling tours. The neighboring village has recently been designated a Desa Wisata and further activities will be centered there in the near future. Ubud's Jl Hannoman shopping area is a 20 minute drive mostly through villages and ricefield and avoiding much of the daytime traffic in the town center. Likewise the popular Campuan restaurant district, locale of such icons as Mozaic and Nuri's, can be reached without having to go through the town.
